To become a good writer you need to write as much as possible. Thus, you need to put a goal to make writing your second nature. But, what shall you do if it takes the whole day to create a 1000-words piece of text?

In that manner, it will take years to become a real writer. To be productive in writing you can’t be distracted with attempts to find a needed key on the keyboard. Even 0.1 seconds can spoil your flow of thought. Real writers become one entity with their keyboard like a violinist with his violin.

Thus, you need to put writing as your lifestyle. When you’re choosing your lifestyle you have to make sacrifices to make it work. It’s the same thing that sportsmen do. They do their best in every aspect of their lives to increase productivity. They eat, sleep, and rest according to a strict schedule.

That means that a budding writer needs to elaborate a program for his daily activity where rest and practicing are balanced. This regime shouldn’t be unbearable, but it should be rigid.

From now on it should be a dictatorship of productivity in your life. The same extent of self-discipline that monks of Shaolin apply to train themselves in kung-fu, a writer needs to apply to train himself in writing.

Nevertheless, the difference between them and you, a writer, is that they have bosses above them. In turn, writers have to be their own bosses. That means, that you’re going to have to give up self-pity when wearing yourself out with constant exercises.

If you decided to go through that hard way of a writer, you need to care about numerous things that will allow you to train productively. In that manner, you’re going to have to get rid of everything that may potentially distract you from writing. I have a habit to turn off any sounds and notifications on my cellphone. Just in case, if someone calls me, I call them back after I finish my work.

Now, when you organized your regime you need to have enough ideas on what to write exactly. The thing is that at this stage the quantity is more important than quality. Thus writing an article of 1000 words with a lot of research can happen to be insufficient. After all, the goal is to achieve the ability to transfer your thoughts immediately on the screen. While when you work on an important but short article, you

don’t give your fingers enough exercises.

Now, here are different options for practicing your writings.

1. Write one serious text per day

Start the day with work on a text that you can put on your blog.

If you have no strength to finish this text for one day, it’s okay. You can finish it the next day, or not finish it at all. It’s better to start a 1500 words article and abandon it after typing 430 words than postponing the writing every time.

Do it every day and eventually, you will manage to finish the articles that you will publish.

2. Keep writing after you finished writing

Now, you’re tired after loading your brain with serious stuff, but don’t stop. An average person has fluency in speech, because they talk every day, even after they are tired. They do it because of necessity.

Writing is not natural for people initially. But, you can make it natural for you by doing it always.

Imagine a person who learns a language for years, but is not practicing it every day. They talk with a heavy accent and most of the time they talk in a silly way. That’s what we are when we are not writing a lot. In the ideal world, you need to write more than you talk.

3. Write texts that you can delete after you wrote them

Make a list of what could you write as a flow of consciousness on a daily basis without being dependent on readers.

Here are some suggestions:

Memories. Recall distant memories from your childhood. Describe events, people, items, and areas that you remember from those old days.

Your plans. We all reevaluate our priorities and reflect on our future periodically. Why don’t you do it on your paper or screen? Simply write down your strategy for your coming activity.

It may also give you an advantage in your strategic thinking skills. But, I believe you should make sure that this kind of product will not get into someone else’s hands.

Describe people. There’s a big number of people who you could describe. You can write everything you think about them, both about their appearance and inner essence. Choose your parents, friends, neighbors, and coworkers as “victims” of your observation skills. In addition, it will develop your analyzing abilities.

Describe everything around you. There’s a huge number of details that you could note in your text. Recall what you saw at the University, on your job, around your house, or in your room.

Analyze the situation. Of course, we are all intelligent enough to ponder important events and actions people do or words they said. But, if you’ll write every significant and even insignificant event that occurs with you during the day, you may start noticing clues that you miss.

You don’t have to practice all these methods every day. Sometimes I prefer to describe a person, other days I pick the option to describe the event. Before I start practicing, I relax and look at the list, trying to understand what activity most suits my mood that day.

However, if you don’t feel like writing at all one day, you need to force yourself. In that case, take the next option from the list which follows what you did yesterday.

4. Use social Media to write more

On places like FaceBook or Twitter, you can find a person to discuss any topic. You also can leave comments below YouTube videos. It’ll create a flow of alive dialogue.

As a result, you will forget that it’s actually training and that it’s supposed to be an energy-consuming task. All your focus will switch to an interesting topic which you will argue about.

However, you shouldn’t forget to write error-free sentences, even when your opponent doesn’t bother with grammar.

Conclusion

To be addicted to writing is a very important thing if you want to write well. The more you write the more your texts will look professional. Use tips from this article. Invent new methods to write more.
