Here’s What Everyone Can do To Help Ukraine. Zero Casualties On Your Side

Couch warriors. That’s how in Ukraine we call people who demonstrate aggression and convey their “expert” opinion on the issues of military operations, while in reality, they don’t know what they are talking about. Well, that’s what I am. I’m a couch warier.

I never served in the army due to health conditions. The best I can do is to join the Homeland Defence forces. But, that’s when you keep staying at home, going to your work, and only in the case of an attack particularly against your city you are supposed to take a gun and do your best to make at least some problems to the occupants.

However, there’s something else that I can do. It’s fighting on the internet. I talk to people in chats, leave comments on social media. My main message is to inspire Ukrainians to believe in our victory.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a soldier who fights on the front lines or you are a stay-at-home-mom. Russian propaganda tries hard to convince everyone that the Ukrainian army doesn’t want to fight and massively surrenders. Of course, it’s not true, but these rumors are spread to discourage people from any kind of resistance.

So, what I do is disprove fake news as far as possible, everywhere I can. Or, if I’m not sure whether it’s fake or not, I simply question the claims that my interlocutor makes. During one of the conversations, someone has said that the news about 13 Ukrainian border guards who were killed on Zmeiny Island is fake news. He or she cited Russian sources as saying that there were 80 border guards and they all surrendered and are still alive.

As a matter of fact, that would be beneficial to Russians in terms of informational war. But, I don’t care who are beneficiaries of the true information. All I care about is whether it’s true or not.

So, I didn’t try to pursue the interlocutor that the Ukrainian version is correct. All I did was asked a question “If they are still alive and didn’t heroically die, why Russians didn’t show everyone a video of them”. In fact, Russians presented a video, where allegedly some Ukrainian soldiers surrendered because it was supposed to confirm Russian official narratives that Ukrainians don’t want to fight. If Russians had such an opportunity, wouldn’t they show to the world that all defenders of Snake Island preferred to lay down their arms rather than die for their country?

So, that’s the least I can do.
There’s another thing. Our experts formulated 3 things that we, Ukrainians ask from European and U.S. leaders.

1. Cut off Russia from SWIFT

2. Protect Ukraine’s airspace from Russia

3. Send NATO troops to Ukraine.

Yes, yes, I know that many of our western friends don’t think that this is such a good idea to sent troops to Ukraine. Nuclear threat… I get it. But, think about it. Will Russian officers press the scary button if there’s no one even near their borders?

We fight on our territory. We didn’t come to their home to kill them. We don’t care about Russia whether it will prosper, or disappear. All we want from them is that they leave us alone.

Okay, Putin is obviously a crazy old dotard. But, those officers who are responsible for pressing the nuclear button have to be sane. They have children and wives. They understand that starting a nuclear war will end up for them with nuclear explosions at their home. No one ever going to use it.

So, my point is that we have to do something about the danger. It’s not clear whether Putin will stop at Ukraine. He acts like he wants to recreate the old Soviet Empire. Of course, he doesn’t acknowledge that that’s what his plan is. But, he was also denying his plans to attack Ukraine until the very last moment. Don’t listen to what he says, but rather look what he does.

In addition, Putin occupied territory where Chernobyl’s infamous nuclear station is situated. Probably, he wants to blackmail everyone threatening to blow this thing up again and spread the radiation all around Europe.

Mr. Putin has to be stopped sooner rather than later. We still have other members of the Russian government next to him who could initiate the coup. Russians are not the same thing as Putin. Not all of them are crazy. But, they have to make sure that the world stands decidedly against their reckless president.

So, here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to send this message to all my friends.

Dear @OlafScholz @EmmanuelMacron @JoeBiden @BorisJohnson Please #BanRussiafromSwift #CloseTheSky #SendNatoToUkraine

And my friends happened to be Olaf Scholz, Emmanuel Macron, Joseph Biden, and Boris Johnson. I think they’ll like it if I’ll leave it as a comment below the posts on their official Facebook pages.
